The successful launch and creation of new ventures requires many things - timing, the right "idea," capable team members and the ability to learn and adapt as the business environment changes. Yes - an entrepreneur can go it "alone" - do it totally by him or herself and succeed, but at what cost in terms of time and level of success? We think business is just like real life - you can get places sooner and in better shape with a critical advice and mentors along the way. Golden Gate Angels is a forum where entrepreneurs at the earliest stages find their mentors and get the critical advice and early stage funding to help them cut time off the launch clock and be better positioned to succeed.

How do we do it?
We have organized a group of very seasoned angels, serial entrepreneurs, professional advisors and people who have "been there" to help guide young ventures on to better paths and outcomes for their shareholders and founders. These members have experience in all the areas critical to early stage success - capital planning, financing, marketing, sales, human resources, legal and fund raising. Most of us have founded and sold ventures, we understand where the founders and coming from and want to help you get to the next level. Why? We are investors that are interested in exits - reasonable exists where all the parties win. We don’t have a financial model that requires or is based on 1 company resulting in a 100x return to cover the rest of the companies that we pushed to hard to achieve that 1 outcome - we operate on achievable goals, 5 to 15x returns where we are all aligned in the exit - founders, investors alike. As such, we want all our investments to be winners and we act that way.

What is the GGA comprised of?
The GGA is comprised of its angel activities, mentorship forum and more dedicated GGA Launch Pad Program. At the angel level we hold quarterly meetings, looking at 10 to 15 companies who present at 5 minute intervals to the angel community comprising the GGA, his is a very popular event and a way to connect and test ideas with the investment community on a no-fee basis. The mentorship forum is a community whereby founders can post their questions to the GGA forum and get advice, tips and input on issues facing founders at that time. Answers are provided by the angels, mentors and service providers as a way for the community to give back to entrepreneurship. Finally, there is the GGA Launch Pad Program. GGA Launch Pad is a limited opportunity program where we look at the over 500 applicants a year to the GGA and select a limited set of companies to work with the GGA on an on-site basis to help quickly launch their venture with maximum impact, helping craft business plans, executive summaries and working directly with companies on their funding and go to market strategies - we essentially step in as "co-founders" to help you get the company going quickly and efficiently, but at a significantly smaller equity package than a co-founder would require.
